The Grammys are always an interesting event in regards to fashion. So many iconic and memorable looks. Let us never forget JLo and her 2000 plunging dress and more recently, Lady Gaga’s 2016 tribute to David Bowie. The most obvious standout this year was a fairly unknown African American artist, Joy Villa, who wore a dress with President Trump’s campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again,” along with “Trump” along the train of the gown. This could be a “love Trump’s hate” type of message or maybe she is a supporter. Either one, I don’t think this stunt will keep her in the limelight for long.
Now for the more exciting news on the red carpet. Some of the major trends of the night crossed all genres. We saw plenty of keyhole cutouts, some more risqué than others (@JLo again). here are some of the stars from country music to pop performers who rocked this look.
The red carpet was also lit up by many other stars who decided to rock the metallic trend. Heidi Klum finally has come out of her fashion slump with this awesome metallic mini. Although Heidi is on her way out a slump, Katy Perry may be on her way in with this ill-fitted look. Here are the stars that blinded us with their metallic ensembles.
Paris, Milan, and New York fashion weeks are all great but there is something special about London fashion week. I always look forward to those street style pics because London style is so unique. There is a certain quirkiness and boldness that is indigenous to the city. Because of my love for LFW I am so excited to be able share with you all these street style pics, courtesy of one of my favorite places online to shop, Farfetch. Any of these looks can easily be recreated by checking out Farfetch’s huge collection of luxury clothing for both men and women (they always have great sales going on too!).
When I first saw all of the street style pics from Farfetch I knew that I wanted to talk about these two looks. I rarely ever get to talk about men’s fashion on Like Lillian however I love men’s street style pics from fashion week because they are unpredictable and are often fun and whimsical looks. Both of these guys are wearing relatively classic outfits but they added pieces to make them interesting and different like the Campbell soup Converse (I am trying to find them to buy for myself) and the skull bracelets. These guys also crushed the layering trend.
These looks show how diverse and distinct London style is. The first look embodies the quirkiness there that I love. The hat, the mix of furs, the cool canvas tote, and the tennis sneakers are all such different pieces and ideas that work so well together in this look. And that is one of the best hats I have ever seen. The coat in the second look is stunning and I love how she made the ensemble edgier with the Wildfox sunglasses. I also love the last look because it is so simple but seems so bold and reminds me of an Alexa Chung look. Even this girl’s hair looks perfectly undone.
I have seen many James Bond movies and in everyone I have noticed the same thing. No matter if the women are running from an exploding building in the desert or about to drown in a sinking car, the Bond girls always look fabulous. The glamour in the Bond movies is the reason why I love them. So many iconic looks and even more iconic women have come from this twenty-four film franchise. The most recent Bond movie, Spectre, starring Lea Seydoux as Dr. Madeleine Swann was one of my favorites. The storyline, scenery, and the characters were all great, and most impressive was the fashion in the movie. I am going to show you how to get Lea Seydoux’s chic outfits from the movie for all you Bond Girls on a budget.
Happy award season! Every year I choose my favorite looks for each award show but this year I wanted to switch it up and share the top trends from the Globes. I am watching the red carpet coverage on E! as I am writing this and the jewelry this year is beautiful especially Leslie Mann’s choker, Jaimie Alexander’s rings, and Jennifer Lopez’s necklace. The hair trends tonight include short pony tails, like Malin Akerman’s, and intricate braids like Rooney Mara’s. Here are some of my favorite fashion trends of the night:
I recently watched The Other Woman and it was hilarious however my favorite part of the movie was the style of all of the characters. Leslie Mann, Cameron Diaz and Kate Upton each had about 30 wardrobe changes throughout the two hour film. I loved Leslie’s character’s preppy and classic style and Cameron’s charter’s sophisticated and edgy looks. I liked Kate’s character’s outfits because they were very young and relaxed, similar to what I would wear. Here are a few of my favorite looks from the movie.
If Lupita Nyong’o is on a red carpet, chances are I love whatever she is wearing. From her major fashion debut last year at the Golden Globes in Ralph Lauren Collection, to her more recent pearl masterpiece by Clavin Klein at the Oscars, Lupita has been pushing boundaries and taking plenty of risks which always pay off. Another thing that I love about Lupita was her March cover for Lucky where she wore a completely vegan outfit. I also loved her honest and confident responses in her Lucky interview about her life, family, and being comfortable in her own skin (without makeup). Here are just a few of my favorite looks from Lupita:
My holiday break has come to an unfortunate yet inevitable end today. It was a great two weeks off where I filled the majority of my free time with a new show on Netflix: Scandal. I love the show’s conflicts, relationships and constant surprises, however I think my favorite part of the show is the main character’s, Olivia Pope’s, style. Olivia Pope is played by Kerry Washington whom I have already done a style crush post with and whose personal style I love. Olivia Pope’s outfits are that of a modern and strong working woman which goes along well with her independent and extremely powerful character. Here are some of my favorite looks from the show:
