Sunday Shoeday

The Chanel Haute Couture Fall Winter 2015 show consisted of gorgeous suits, dresses, furs and flats. Each look was paired with a flat thong sandals which tied at the ankle, similar to a ballet shoe. The shoes gave the collection a unique and relaxed look, allowing the focus to be mainly on the clothing. It was an unconventional yet interesting choice to pair each look with flat sandals, however, I am one step ahead of the stylists at Chanel. I have a similar pair of shoes (and probably much cheaper) that I wore for my eight grade graduation. The shoes are also quite easy to DIY, if you do not want to spent a lot of money on glorified flip flops.

Flip Flops (I suggest using thin wood flip flops because they are easy to work with; these are from J crew)

Ribbon, any color

To DIY these sandals, get a pair of flip flops and a roll of ribbon about an inch wide. Measure how much ribbon you will need in order to be able to tie the fabric around your ankle. Then cut the ribbon so that you have two pieces, identical in length (always start out by cutting more than you need and adjust later). Hot glue the end of one ribbon underneath the flip flop so you will not see the end of the piece. Repeat this on the other side with the other ribbon. Then cross the pieces over at your ankle and then tie them and that is it!
