Sunday Shoeday

I’m back! It has been a very long time since I last uploaded a post and I am very sorry, but it was because I was traveling in Canada! I will do a post on my trip soon but for now I wanted to do a special Sunday Shoeday for my first post back. I would like to discuss when women should NOT wear heels. High-heels are the most sophisticated, yet painful members of the shoe family. Heels can make you feel on top of the world and unstoppable, as if instead of pain and discomfort, all your feet feel is a confidence boost. However, heels are not meant for certain occasions. I have witnessed first-hand the unfortunate and sometimes humorous sightings of women wearing the wrong shoes at the wrong time. Here are just a few of my favorites:

At the beach:
First of all, why are you wearing heels on the beach? The only possible reason I can think of for someone to even attempt to walk on the sand in heels is a beach wedding. Even then, just take off your shoes or opt for flats. If you walk on the beach in a pair of pumps, your heels will sink into the sand, making it quite difficult to move. Walking on the sand in heels will cause the leg-spaghetti syndrome which is actually hilarious to others, but painful for the woman wearing the heels.

On a cobblestone street:
Trust me when I say, if you are going to be walking on an uneven road, especially a cobblestone street, wear flats! I have worn four inch wedges to dinner, but was completely unaware of the cobblestone street I had to cross to get to the restaurant. This quickly became like hopscotch, trying to jump onto the stones which seemed the most even, most of the time, unsuccessfully. Wearing flats on a cobblestone street is easier, more comfortable, less embarrassing and a lot faster.

On the Treadmill:
Ok, if you can run in heels, you are the modern day wonder woman. But like most women, it is going to be difficult to run faster than .7 miles per hour on the treadmill in a pair of stilettos. Running on a treadmill in heels is an extremely easy way to break an ankle or make a really popular and hilarious Youtube video (however, you may be able to get away with heels on a elliptical).
