How to Amp Up an Outfit

There have been many times where I have gotten dressed, looked in the mirror, and said to myself “this is just too boring.” Not every outfit should be extremely intricate or complicated, but I always try to add a finishing touch to my look. There are many different ways to do this and will vary depending on the occasion and the outfit. I often wear a lace bandeau or bralette and leave a small amount of lace exposed in either the front of the shirt or on the sides. I believe that the lace adds elegance and sophistication. A more obvious way to amp up an outfit would be to add accessories. Most people will try to match their accessory like a purse, necklace, or scarf to their outfit, but if the accessory subtly contrasts with the outfit, either in color or structure, this will make both the outfit and the accessory stand out more. I try to add unique pieces to finish my outfits like a vintage purse or a handmade bracelet. I recommend looking in flea markets and antique stores for unique items like these because they are usually cheap and one-of-a-kind. Another way to amp up an outfit is by playing with interesting hairstyles. Pulling the hair back into a ponytail or bun opens up the face, neck, and chest while bringing more attention to a necklace or the¬†neckline of a shirt. Here are just a few ways to make any outfit a bit more interesting. Thanks for visiting Like Lillian!
